Good on you, Donna Vekic.

Passionate about future generations having access to the sport she loves, Vekic spearheaded efforts to open doors to a second public tennis court in Osijek, Croatia by advocating and working alongside city officials to get the project off the ground.

Following the earlier unveiling of a grass court, this exciting launch will give locals another taste of the WTA and ATP Tours with its red clay surface. Like its predecessor, it's free to use, ideally by children interested in trying the sport.

“Thank you all for your support in the realization of the project of public tennis courts in Osijek!’ Vekic wrote on her Facebook page.

Added Osijek Mayor Ivan Radic, “The first tennis court at Bosutski is always full, and this one at Jugo II will surely be as well. The goal is for as many young people as possible to play sports, and if we are lucky, maybe we will get a new Donna Vekic.”

The 26-year-old closed her 2022 season on a high note, reaching the 500-level final in San Diego. There, Vekic qualified before scoring four Top 25 wins, including Top 10 victories over eventual WTA Finals competitors Aryna Sabalenka and Maria Sakkari. She finished runner-up to Iga Swiatek after pushing the world No. 1 to three sets.
