Elina Svitolina receives her own star on the Square of Stars in Ukraine 

On Tuesday, Elina Svitolina's on-court accomplishments were celebrated as she received her very own star on the Square of Stars in Kiev, Ukraine. Dressed in a gorgeous red coat, she walked down the red carpet and posed for photos before receiving the plaque and seeing her star cemented on the ground which resembles the "Walk of Fame" in Hollywood.

"Such awards are of great importance for us athletes. It is motivation, gratitude and confidence," she wrote on Instagram. "I am grateful to my family, team and fans and happy to be among those who glorify Ukraine with their achievements."

The world No. 14 certainly has brought nothing but glory to her country. She's claimed 16 WTA titles, with five of them coming at the WTA 1000 level. Svitolina hasn't claimed a major title yet, but she's come close on multiple occasions. In 2019, she reached the last four at both Wimbledon and the US Open and has been ranked as high as No. 3 in the world.

This year she made history when she slipped past Elina Rybakina to secure the bronze medal at the Summer Olympics. The feat makes her the first Olympian to win a medal in tennis for Ukraine.

The 27-year-old most recently suffered an upset loss to Camila Osorio at the Tenerife Ladies Open, and fell just short of the Top 8 cutoff for this year's WTA Finals.
