"The rowdier the better from everyone"

From the stands of Kia Arena to fans on their couches, Thanasi Kokkinakis and Nick Kyrgios have taken their home Slam by storm. Although they both fell early in the singles, the two are officially through to the semifinals of doubles in show-stopping fashion. Each time the Aussies take the court something special happens and the electric atmosphere seems to be made just for them.

The energy their home crowd brings is unbelievable and for Kokkinakis it's absolutely perfect. After capturing a 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 win over No. 6 seeds Michael Venus and Tim Putz, the two spoke about how much fun it's been competing in Melbourne.

"When we walk through that tunnel there's no feeling like it. We don't want anything else, this is perfect," Kokkinakis said as the crowd erupted.

When asked if the semifinal and potential final should be played on Kia Arena, Kokkinakis gave a resounding yes.

"Mate, I don't know, I never played in a doubles match even a singles match with an atmosphere like this. Hopefully Craig is watching and keeps us on this court. The rowdier the better from everyone, honestly."

Fans booing during points, both teams clashing with the chair umpire and a young boy in tears after getting hit by a Kyrgios overhead. All of this happened in the quarterfinal bout. The boy's frown quickly turned upside down when Kyrgios rushed to pull a racquet out of his bag and handed it off to the child. Just like Kokkinakis said, this type of atmosphere doesn't come too often in the tennis world and the wild card team is embracing every second of it.

It's been absolute chaos for their last three matches played on Kia Arena, but organizers may be eager to throw Kokkinakis and Kyrgios on a court with greater capacity. They will face their fourth seeded team thus far when they take on No. 3 seeds Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos.

Similar to the wild card pairing, the Spanish duo is still searching for their first Grand Slam title. However, they have faired quite well and hold six ATP titles as a team, three of them being at the 1000-level.

The semifinal matchup will be on Thursday and the court and time are TBD.
