'Curse-breaker' Hsieh Su-wei helps Jan Zielinski make Polish history in Australian Open mixed doubles

Stefanos Tsitsipas was impressive in his 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 win over 20-year-old Jannik Sinner on Day 10. The Greek is through to his third Australian Open semifinal in the last four years and will look to reach his first final at the event. None of this was expected after a gloomy off season and undergoing elbow surgery.

His doctor believed Tsitsipas wouldn't be ready to start his season in Australia, but the No. 4 seed thought differently.

"Frank, we both didn't expect for me to participate at the Australian Open. It was not a part of our plan. He certainly told me 'I don't see you playing Australia,' but I proved him wrong," Tsitsipas said in his on-court interview with Jim Courier.

His doctor has worked with many tennis players in the past and Tsitsipas feels extremely thankful to have received his experienced care. "I'm happy that I found the right person to bring me back even stronger," he said. He definitely looks refreshed and unstoppable in Melbourne Park as he heads into his fourth-career major semifinal.

The 23-year-old's win books a re-match of his 2021 Australian Open semifinal with No. 2 seed Daniil Medvedev. He lost in straight-sets against the Russian last year and will look to come out on top this time around. In their most recent matchup at last year's Roland Garros, Tsitsipas picked up a solid 6-3, 7-6 (3), 7-5 score in the quarterfinal.

Now that he's into the final four, the Greek player is "staying humble" and believes his consistency to reach the later rounds at majors is key to notching his first Grand Slam title. He's also loving the crowd support Down Under and before wrapping up the interview he told the crowd, "we are in this together, let's go!"

Tsitsipas' relationship with the Aussie spectators might be going slightly better than Medvedev's, but according to the US Open champion all great relationships must go through ups and downs. The two will face off for a spot in the major's final on Friday.
