As one of a handful of players affected by an early-season purge by Nike in 2023, Sloane Stephens has already found a new home. The 2017 US Open champion is the newest ambassador for FP Movement, the athletic apparel arm of the American clothing retailer Free People.

Stephens joins fellow American Sofia Kenin as high-profile players to wear the brand, and debuted in the line this week at the ASB Classic in Auckland, where she was the No. 2 seed.

"I'm thrilled to be joining the @FreePeople Movement team as their newest ambassador," Stephens wrote on Twitter. "I'm looking forward to the support they will give me in my tennis career and in my efforts off the court!"

The 29-year-old told Forbes that she was drawn to the brand because of its innovation as a new-to-tennis retailer, and willingness to collaborate.

"I love the energy of the company as they grow in a new segment of the market," she said. "Everyone is super collaborative and focused on the same goal, so not only are they interested in my feedback and experience, but they seek it out.

It was important to me to find an apparel partner that I could collaborate with and that is receptive to the ideas I have, not only in terms of the actual apparel but in terms of events, activations, all of it."

Stephens will be wearing a kit featuring warm and bright orange when she heads to Melbourne Park next week for the Australian Open, according to Forbes.
