Coming into the Davis Cup Finals, Daniil Medvedev was in second place for most tour-level wins this year for a man or woman—he had 58, and the man who beat him in the final of the ATP Finals a week ago, Alexander Zverev, had 59.

Zverev’s win over Medvedev in Turin was actually that 59th win of the year.

But with two wins so far at the Davis Cup Finals from Russia’s group ties—a 6-0, 6-2 win over Ecuador's Emilio Gomez on Saturday, then a 6-2, 7-6 (3) victory over two-time US Open semifinalist Pablo Carreno Busta of Spain on Sunday—Medvedev has leapfrogged Zverev to the top of the list.

Medvedev now has the most tour-level wins this year for a man or woman with 60 (he’s 60-13 on the year), bumping Zverev down to second place (the German is 59-15 on the year, and not competing at the Davis Cup Finals).

This is now also the most tour-level wins Medvedev has recorded in a year in his entire career, his previous-most being 59 in 2019.
