Stefanos Tsitsipas couldn’t have played much better against Jannik Sinner at the Australian Open on Wednesday—14 holds in 14 service games, never faced a break point, converted all four of his own break point opportunities—and in the end he emerged with a 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 victory after just over two hours.

And with that victory, Tsitsipas improves to 5-0 in Grand Slam quarterfinals.

TSITSIPAS’ GRAND SLAM QF RESULTS:
d. Bautista Agut in 2019 Australian Open QFs, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (2)
d. Rublev in 2020 Roland Garros QFs, 7-5, 6-2, 6-3
d. Nadal in 2021 Australian Open QFs, 3-6, 2-6, 7-6 (4), 6-4, 7-5
d. Medvedev in 2021 Roland Garros QFs, 6-3, 7-6 (3), 7-5
d. Sinner in 2022 Australian Open QFs, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2

Going unbeaten in his first five Grand Slam quarterfinals is something Tsitsipas has over the three biggest names in the game—Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. None of the Big 3 won their first five in a row, with Federer and Nadal going 3-2 in their first five major quarterfinals and Djokovic going 4-1.

Tsitsipas’ victory over the No. 10-ranked Sinner was his fifth career Top 10 win at a major (now 5-6) and 24th career Top 10 win at any event (now 24-32).

Up next for the No. 4-ranked Tsitsipas will be No. 2-ranked Daniil Medvedev.
