Donna Vekic enjoyed a revitalizing run to the second week of this year's Australian Open to snap a six-match losing streak. Though the Croat is currently off-court rehabbing from knee surgery, she is already looking ahead to a return in time for Roland Garros telling Daniela Hantuchova that between her and Paris, it's all love.

"It’s definitely one of my favorite tournaments," she said on the latest episode of *Chatting with Daniela*, which airs on the official Roland Garros YouTube channel. "I used to have a love-hate relationship with clay, but now it’s more of a love-love, and it’s more mutual. The last couple of years, I’ve really enjoyed playing on clay and at the other tournaments as well. I’m really looking forward to coming back."

Vekic reached her first Grand Slam third round on the terre battue, but wouldn't make it that far again until until 2019—when she knocked out good friend Belinda Bencic in what would be the first of two Grand Slam second week appearances that season.

"I think it’s the general atmosphere, it’s something different to other tournaments. When I have days off between matches, I like to go into the city, go for walks, do a little shopping, eat in some of the restaurants.

"I love L’Avenue. For me, it’s the perfect spot because I love to people-watch, and there, everyone dresses well, so it’s cool to see everyone’s outfits. I try to take a table in the corner where I can see everyone, but no one can see me!"

Quarantine has prevented those off-day adventures, but Vekic has found ways to stay social with fellow players and maintain a healthy beauty regimen.

"When I was in Melbourne, I would be talking to Karolina Pliskova on FaceTime and we'd both be in face masks and pajamas!"
