Former world No. 1 Ashleigh Barty has officially tied the knot with long-time partner Garry Kissick—and she revealed the news in her signature lowkey style.

With a single photo from her private ceremony, Barty announced the pair were now “husband & wife,” as she wrote on Instagram. The 26-year-old wore a wedding dress by Australian bridal couture designer Suzanne Harward for the occasion.

The gorgeous wedding photo racked up thousands of likes on social media, as congratulations poured in from around the tennis world and Australian sport.

Famously private about their personal life, the couple’s wedding was reportedly held at a secret venue in Queensland last month. Australian outlet The New Daily reported that the guest list included a who’s who of the nation’s tennis greats, including Pat Rafter, Casey Dellacqua, Alicia Molik and Jim Joyce, Barty’s former junior coach.

Barty and Kissick have been together since 2016, when the pair played a round of golf together at the Brooklands Golf Club in Queensland. That same year, Barty would make her return to professional tennis after taking some time away from the sport.

She would go on to lift 15 career trophies, including three Grand Slam titles at the French Open, Wimbledon and on home soil at the Australian Open earlier this year. Two months after her Melbourne victory, Barty announced her retirement from the sport, going out at world No. 1.

Kissick was there every step of the way—despite not having much of a clue about the sport his fiancee dominated, as Barty recalled to Vogue in a recent interview.

“He's extremely patient with me, and when we met he didn't know a lot about tennis,” Barty said. “He's kind of been thrown in the very deep end in understanding what the tour is like and how much we're apart...

“[But] he's the best person to have around in the sense of switching off from tennis and being able to bring the fun and laughter.

“I certainly wouldn't want to share this journey with anyone else.”
