WATCH: Felix Auger-Aliassime defeated newly-minted No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz this week in Davis Cup.

Having secured victory for the Canadian Davis Cup team this week in Valencia, Felix Auger-Aliassime is chasing a "perfect" finish to the season.

It's been a solid season for the 22-year-old so far, winning his first tour title at Rotterdam, going five sets with Rafael Nadal at the French Open and reaching at least the quarters of most of the events he's played.

That has him in the No. 7 spot in the race to qualify for the ATP Finals, where the Top 8 players get into the field. This week, he was the MVP of the Canadian Davis Cup team, securing five points in singles and doubles as they qualified for the Davis Cup Finals in two months.

“I feel this whole event my level has been really good. I'm really happy where my game is at,” said Auger-Aliassime, who decided to join the team following his defeat against Jack Draper in the second round of the US Open. “I’ve been able to bounce back from the US Open. I feel like my game is on the right track. Overall with a few bad losses here and there, I've played really good this year.

"Hopefully, I can keep that going to... clinch one of my other objectives, which is to be in the last eight in Turin. That would be a perfect ending to a great season.”

Among the wins Auger-Aliassime had during playoff competition this week was the 19-year-old Spaniard, Carlos Alcaraz, who just won the US Open. That gives him more confidence as he looks to stay in the Top 8 for the ATP Finals.

“I played a fantastic match with Carlos. He was also playing at a good level,” he said. “I think we both pushed each other and made this match a really good one. To come out and to push ourselves in the doubles, even though it was late at night, I was a bit tired, but to push myself, I think it was all worth it now because the emotions are really good for myself and the whole team.

"It's very nice to see a smile on everybody's face. I'm really happy that I came and played with the level I did to get Canada through the quarters.”
