Stat of the Day: Danielle Collins records 100th WTA win of career in San Diego

American Danielle Collins battled into the semifinals of the WTA 500 event in San Diego on Friday night, defeating Paula Badosa in a tight two-setter, 7-6 (5), 6-4.

And it was a major milestone for Collins: the 100th WTA win of her career.

After a sparkling college tennis career—she was a two-time NCAA singles champion, graduating from the University of Virginia in 2016—Collins recorded the first eight tour-level wins of her career as a 24-year-old during a breakthrough four weeks in March 2018, reaching the fourth round of Indian Wells (as a No. 117-ranked wild card) and the semifinals of Miami (as a No. 93-ranked qualifier).

She’s notched 92 more wins in the four and a half years since then.
