WATCH: Tennis Channel Live discusses Iga Swiatek as a heavy favorite for Roland Garros

The Hologic WTA Tour’s fall swing is starting to take shape, after the WTA unveiled the most recent edition of its 2022 calendar on Monday.

The updates flesh out the weeks after the US Open through the end of the season, and include the confirmation of a new 1000-level event to be held in Guadalajara, Mexico as well as the return of San Diego to the pro tennis calendar with a WTA 500 event.

Fans of Ons Jabeur will have reason to celebrate with the news of a WTA 250 event set to be held in her home country Tunisia for the first time, while world No. 1 Iga Swiatek could enjoy the perfect homecoming as the event in Gdynia is set for a move to Warsaw, Poland.

“The 2022 WTA fall calendar will provide a robust amount of job opportunities for players in a regional calendar flow that will take us through to the end of the season,” said Steve Simon, WTA Chairman & CEO.

“I am extremely grateful to all of our tournament organizers for their support of women’s tennis and their commitment to staging world class Hologic WTA Tour events.”

The schedule includes 12 additional WTA 125 events in Europe and North and South America.

The announcement also reiterates the WTA’s position on China, as no tournaments have been announced in the country during the fall swing that it usually dominated in seasons past. Last year, the tour’s leadership announced its decision to suspend all tournaments in China and Hong Kong while the case of Peng Shuai remains unresolved.

Another notable absence is the location of the season-ending WTA Finals, which was held last year in Guadalajara and WTA Elite Trophy, which has not been held since 2019. Both tournaments were to be played in Chinese cities Shenzhen and Zhuhai before the WTA’s decision.

According to the WTA, further updates to the calendar are expected and will be provided in due course.
