Saluting Queen Elizabeth II: Moments in time of Her Majesty at Wimbledon

As the world mourns the loss of Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away peacefully Thursday, September 8, 2022, at 96, we celebrate her lasting impression. Here is a trip (or two) down memory lane with The Queen at Wimbledon:

Crowning Althea Gibson as champion in 1957.

At 1968’s first “Open” Championships, Rod Laver received the trophy from Her Majesty.

In 2010, The Queen graced the All England Club for a full day out…

… and needless to say, the weather did not reign on this royal visit.

Several of the sport’s biggest names, including Billie Jean King, had the opportunity to meet The Queen and late husband, Philip, duke of Edinburgh.

Andy Roddick, Venus Williams and Caroline Wozniacki…

… Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic…

… and Roger Federer.

Tennis viewing from the Royal Box was, of course, a must to-do.

The Queen watched home favorite Andy Murray defeat Jarkko Nieminen. (shoutout Virginia Wade!)

Afterwards, she greeted Murray and Nieminen at a historic viewing point.

While eyes are filled with cloudiness, your ray of light is with us—always. Rest in peace, Her Majesty.
