Visual Story: Amanda Anisimova ousts Naomi Osaka at a major yet again with Roland Garros win

Amanda Anisimova has now eliminated Naomi Osaka at the first two majors of the 2022 season. A visual run through of her 7-5, 6-4 win Monday at Roland Garros.

With Osaka serving first on Court Suzanne Lenglen, the returner would win three consecutive games to start.

The four-time major winner eventually got back on serve, reaching 5-4.

After leveling, Anisimova pressured Osaka in the 11th game by opening a 15-40 lead.

Osaka battled to stay with the American, who gave the four-time major winner some help with a high forehand volley flub on her third break point chance.

But the Japanese superstar, who double-faulted to drop serve in the opening game, saw the same scenario play out. Anisimova then served the set out at love.

Through the first six games of set two, six holds were posted.

A double-fault when facing break point yet again doomed Osaka, handing the former semifinalist a 4-3 lead.

Anisimova then trailed 0-40 when trying to consolidate. Osaka though, struggled to win points more on Anisimova’s second serve throughout the contest and in a key window of opportunity, was unable to secure the re-break.

As rain drops began to fall, the players changed ends with the clash on Anisimova’s racquet, 5-4.

After missing her first two match points, Anisimova shut the door to beat the inclement weather and wrap up the victory after 90 minutes.

Both players hit 29 unforced errors, but Anisimova produced more than double the winners (27 to 13).

The 20-year-old previously saved two match points to oust Osaka in the third round of the Australian Open before falling to eventual champion Barty.

Osaka stopped multiple times to sign autographs and pose for photos as she exited.
