Every week, American players from the ATP and WTA tours step up to the plate around the world. Here are the top American movers and shakers that shined the brightest this week:

1. Steve Johnson and Austin Krajicek

Doubles Finalists, Western & Southern Open ATP Masters 1000 (Cincinnati)

Steve Johnson and Austin Krajicek made a strong effort to bring home the Cincinnati doubles title. They only dropped one set on their way to the final, but fell to No. 2 seeds Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos 7-6(5), 7-6(5).

2. Claire Liu

Semifinalist, WTA 125 Series (Chicago)

In her sixth final four showing of the year, Liu went up against Emma Raducanu in Chicago. Ultimately, the American was stopped by the Brit, but reaching her first WTA 125 semifinal of the year is an accomplishment by itself.

3. Ann Li

Semifinalist, WTA 125 Series (Chicago)

After a few shaky events, the Asian-American is finding the same groove she showcased earlier this year when she reached the final round of the WTA 500 event in Australia. Li fell to Clara Tauson in straight sets in Chicago's semifinal, but posted solid wins over Whitney Osuigwe, Oceane Dodin, and Zarina Diyas.
