NEW YORK — Andy Murray has responded after hearing that Mirra Andreeva and Ajla Tomljanovic both said he’s “aging like fine wine”—but he doesn’t exactly agree.

Andreeva was a guest on “Love-Ajla”—part of Tennis Channel’s US Open coverage that sees the Australian player double as guest correspondent, bringing fans closer to rising stars including Holger Rune, Alex Eala and Andreeva.

Tomljanovic asked the key questions after she and Andreeva realized they shared something major:

“So you and I had the same crush when we were teenagers,” Tomljanovic told Andreeva. “You called someone ‘Even more beautiful in person.’”

That someone was Andy Murray. Flashback to 2023, when 15-year-old Andreeva admitted in a Tennis Channel interview that the highlight of her breakthrough Madrid Open run was seeing the former world No. 1 in the player areas.

It turns out Tomljanovic could relate.

“Andy was my crush when I was, like, 13 or 14,” she revealed. “So when you said that, I was like, Mirra gets it! Mirra understands.”

Andreeva also shared what it was like when that clip went viral. She admitted she was shy and avoided Murray at first, but eventually worked up the courage to ask him for a selfie.

“When I (saw) him, I would go the other way and wait 10 minutes,” Andreeva joked. “I was so shy that everyone heard it…

“But I feel like he’s aging like fine wine. I look at him now, and I’m like, Oh yeah, he looks good."

Murray, a three-time Grand Slam champion, Olympic gold medalist and former world No. 1, has been enjoying life after retirement last year. The 38-year-old briefly coached Novak Djokovic and recently embarked on a theater tour reflecting on his career.

He’s also joined the list of tennis stars who have taken up golf—alongside Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Carlos Alcaraz and Casper Ruud.

Andreeva, clearly keeping track, impressed Tomljanovic.

“Oh, you’re keeping up with what he’s up to. Okay,” Tomljanovic said as both laughed. Andreeva replied: “I just dug myself another hole!”

That clip also did the rounds on social media, and once again, Murray caught wind of it. His response was perfectly on-brand:

“I’ve agreed to cover the cost for both ladies to have a check up at their local optometrist post-US Open,” he wrote in the Instagram comments.
