Anett Kontaveit celebrates career, toasts retirement in Tallinn and Vienna

Retirement looks good on her. After closing the chapter of her competitive tennis career with a sold-out exhibition against Ons Jabeur in Tallinn, Anett Kontaveit toasted retirement with a gltizy gala with familty and friends.

The top-ranked Estonian player in history, forced to retire from top-level tennis after Wimbledon this summer as a result of a chronic back injury, welcomed Jabeur to the Tondiraba Ice Hall two weeks ago for one final match, and the pair quickly traded their tennis clothes for classy basic black as day turned to evening to properly toast Kontaveit's career at an afterparty.

Guests at the soiree included Estonian TV presenter Keili Sükijainen, Kontaveit's good friend; Jabeur and her husband, Karim Kamoun; and Kontaveit's boyfriend of little more than a year, Estonian soccer player Brent Lepistu.

"It was truly a moment for life," Kontaveit wrote on Instagram alongside photos from the off-court affair.

But Kontaveit wasn't ready just yet for quiet time after putting away her racquets for a final time.

Shortly after the homecoming ended, she, Sükijainen and their other friends packed up and jetted off to Vienna, Austria for a girls' trip, the latest stop on Kontaveit's post-retirement holiday tour. Over the summer, she documented an impromptu trip to Greece, having a different kind of fun in the sun on the country's beaches while her peers played the US Open.

"This is your sign to go to Vienna with girlfriends," Sükijainen wrote alongside a reel recapping the trip, while Kontaveit offered a ringing endorsement of the food and holiday markets with her own festive post.

While Kontaveit's final days as a WTA pro are expected to be showcased in the second season of Netflix's "Break Point" series next year, will the cameras stick around as she continues her post-tennis adventures? Only time will tell.
