After every match, win or lose, the players meet at the net to shake hands as a sign of congratulations and respect. Sometimes however, a player can be distracted by the outcome of the match that they give a less-than-adequate handshake.

Aryna Sabalenka took a tough 6-3, 6-4 loss to Karolina Pliskova in the semifinals of Montreal. After losing the match, the 23-year-old can be seen throwing her racquet towards her chair as she proceeded to shake hands at the net. Then she proceeded to give Pliskova a handshake that was more of a hand tap while avoiding eye contact.

While Pliskova did not seem to care, many people on social media did, calling into question Sabalenka’s actions.

However, the Belarusian has since come out on social media and apologized, saying “My behavior was not professional…sorry for the handshake. I just completely lost my mind in that moment.”

On Sunday, Pliskova lost to Camila Giorgi in the final.
