Kiki Bertens shared a status update from the hospital room after undergoing left Achilles surgery. The world No. 9 last appeared at Roland Garros and will miss the Australian swing.

The injury was bothering her for a while and now is certainly a good time to address any physical issues. Bertens reached the round of 16 Paris and that was her best result post-shutdown. She started her season with a fourth-round run Melbourne and then picked up her 10th career WTA title in ST. Petersburg. It's her third straight year finishing her season inside of the Top 10.
