Ask any recreational pickleball player what they love about their favorite game, and they’ll sing the praises of its low barrier to entry, its small playing area footprint and its simplicity for new players to learn.
But ask them what their pain points are, and one gripe stands out above all: Amid the boom of the fastest growing sport in the United States, pickleball players are quickly running out of places to play.
Break The Love wants to fix that. The company that revolutionized tennis court bookings in 2019 by creating New York City’s first virtual tennis club—a concept they’ve since taken nationwide via partnerships and through their digital platforms—has set its sights on removing friction from the pickleball experience, too.
This week, the tech-driven platform announced a partnership with YouFit Gyms, a popular nationwide fitness chain, to connect pickleball and racquet sports enthusiasts with its easy and affordable access to booking time.
"Break the Love’s mission is to create and share opportunities for the next generation to access recreational sports activities, especially pickleball, America’s fastest growing sport,” said Trisha Goyal, CEO of Break the Love, in a statement.
“YouFit Gyms’ affordable and convenient indoor pickleball courts make this partnership a natural fit to further deliver Break The Love’s mission and I’m thrilled to introduce it to our growing community.”
Helmed by former tennis player Brian Vahaly, YouFit Gyms has already dipped its toes in the pickleball space this year after introducing indoor pickleball courts to 28 select locations in September. But, due to popular demand, expansion plans are already underway—with Break The Love’s platform at the center of it.
“We first introduced indoor pickleball courts at select locations in September and due to the overwhelming response from our members we have already begun adding additional courts across our footprint,” said CEO Vahaly in a statement.
“As part of our pickleball expansion, we are excited to partner with Break the Love, giving their users access to our courts and join our community of highly engaged pickleball players.”
In addition to the partnership with Break the Love, YouFit is also adding Regional Pickleball Directors to oversee the gym's pickleball programming, courts, as well as monthly pickleball clinics, with the goal of growing and engaging the player base.
YouFit Premium and Premium+ members can book courts for free, and those with Basic YouFit Gym memberships can redeem one free booking. For non-YouFit Members, the cost to book is just $5 per person. To book a court, visit Break The Love.
