Caroline Wozniacki reacts to her teenage self

Caroline Wozniacki surprised fans with the news that she and husband David Lee are expecting their third child.

“Officially switching to zone defense!” joked the former world No. 1 on social media Sunday. “Our family couldn’t be more excited to welcome baby #3 soon! 👶🏼”

Wozniacki had been in the midst of a comeback since 2023, having missed the prior three seasons to begin retirement and become a mother to daughter Olivia and son James. In the 18 months since she returned to action, she reached back-to-back US Open fourth rounds and the 2024 BNP Paribas Open quarterfinals, but has been off the court since a fourth-round US Open defeat to Beatriz Haddad Maia.

“I just have to sit down with the family and kind of see what's best for us,” she said of her comeback at the time. “Then kind of go from there.

“I think right now I just need to take a deep breath and, you know, kind of go through the motions here. And then take it from there.”

The Dane, 34, subsequently withdrew from the 2025 Australian Open citing continued struggles with rheumatoid arthritis, a diagnosis she first shared in 2018, but nonetheless traveled to Melbourne for a special appearance and planned to be back on court later this season.

Members of her WTA family flooded the comments to congratulate Wozniacki, including fellow former world No. 1s Karolina Pliskova and Angelique Kerber, 2016 Olympic doubles champion Elena Vesnina, and 2012 Wimbledon finalist Agnieszka Radwanska.

Wozniacki has yet to reveal whether she plans to return to tournaments following the birth of her third child.
