Daniil Medvedev dominated every inch of Margaret Court Arena on Saturday. He toppled Botic van de Zandschulp, 6-4, 6-4, 6-2, to secure his spot in the round of 16 for an impressive fourth consecutive time. Always true to his authentic self, he said facing the Dutch player was much easier than taking on an Aussie in front of a Melbourne crowd, but he wouldn't want it any other way.

According to the No. 2 seed, the Aussie fans and himself have a thing going on, a relationship thing.

"I think every good relationship must have its ups and downs," Medvedev said in his on-court interview. "I think it's good, it's entertaining and it's real, you know? It's not like something 'hey guys ok bye, whatever see you next time.' There's some relationship going on."

Always such a character he continued to give his relationship advice to the Australian crowd.

"Hopefully I can come many more years here and as I say you know, I don't think it's going to be only good ones but I hope it's going to be more good times than the bad times, otherwise it doesn't work," he said as the stadium erupted into applause. The Russian really does have a way with words and getting spectators in his corner by the end of his campaigns. The 2019 US Open anyone?

It's safe to say Medvedev wasn't too pleased after his grueling second-round win over a turnt up Nick Kyrgios. The inspired and enthusiastic Melbourne crowd was ignited for their home player, which Medvedev said was very challenging and called for some "respect" during his on-court interview following the tussle.

Luckily the Grand Slam champ won't have to face Australian Christopher O'Connell in the next round. The Aussie fell in four sets to American Maxime Cressy. Their round of 16 date marks his first meeting with the former UCLA Bruin.
