If you played tennis in the 1980s, then you knew the Dunlop Max 200G. Hall of Famers such as John McEnroe and Steffi Graf racked up Grand Slam titles using the legendary racquet. It was a heavy, demanding frame that only the most talented aspired to compete with.

As the game evolved, the charms of the 200G waned and it was replaced by more user-friendly options. But it still holds a place as one of the most celebrated racquets of all time.

Now, more than 40 years after its release, Dunlop is paying homage to the Max by releasing limited editions of its CX 200 and CX 400 Tour frames in a special throwback cosmetic.

Instead of the original 200G’s green piping on the face, the tributes sub in the CX’s signature neon red to go along with classic gold lettering. The iconic chevrons in the throat complete the look.

Additionally, the color-up also introduces a brand-new member to the lineup. The CX 200 18x20 shares the same specs as the current CX 200, only with a denser string pattern. The CX is Dunlop’s control franchise, and this gives players an option with even greater command. The model also gives the brand its only 98 square-inch frame with this string pattern.

While the line is not set for an update until 2027, Dunlop saw an opportunity to inject new life in the middle of the current run as well as fill a hole in its arsenal. The three CX limited edition frames—CX 200, CX 200 18x20 and CX 400 Tour—will each sell for $250.

Rounding out the release is the CX Performance LTD 12 Racquet Bag ($170). It has three main compartments, one of which can separated into one or two separate compartments with Velcro dividers. It also has a shoe pocket to keep dirty or wet gear separate. A molded front panel gives the bag more structure, and provides a secure spot for valuables.
