Grand Slam stages, fashion magazine features…What can’t Emma Raducanu conquer at this point?

The 18-year-old’s journey to take the tennis world by storm began at Wimbledon this summer, but she’s putting on an even more impressive performance at the US Open. Raducanu sped through the qualifying rounds, kept her momentum going, and now finds herself the youngest qualifier in the Open Era to reach the semifinals in New York. She also hasn’t dropped a set along her way. Tennis aside, the Brit has won over every fan that’s laid eyes on her, thanks to her charming personality and joyful smile. It’s no wonder that the starlet landed herself a spread in the October issue of British Vogue.

In the magazine, Raducanu looks and speaks like she’s been doing all this for decades. She stuns in Gucci, Valentino, Alexander McQueen, Louis Vuitton, and more. She also opens up about her whirlwind success and how she’s achieved so much, so quickly.

“I think the confidence comes from just inner belief,” Raducanu told British Vogue. “My mum comes from a Chinese background, they have very good self-belief. It’s not necessarily about telling everyone how good you are, but it’s about believing it within yourself.

Despite being the talk of the tennis community, Raducanu is still tethered to her humility and remembers who she is at her core to keep her humble. This is also one reason that she’s captured the hearts of every crowd she’s played for. Yes, she’s likely going to be at the top of the game at some point. But for now, Raducanu still recalls the shy little girl who found herself through sports like tennis and motocross.

“The whole squad I was in was all boys. It was quite intimidating in the beginning to, you know, get out of my shell and actually begin to really enjoy what I was doing because I was so scared. I’m not sure of what,” she says of her early days playing tennis.

To say that she’s broken out of her shell is an understatement. The US Open semifinalist will face the winner of Maria Sakkari and Pliskova and attempt to keep her amazing run alive.
