Roger Federer's fans are going to be happy to hear that their favorite player is back in action on home soil next week in Geneva.

Federer put in a practice session with friend Márton Fucsovics, who posted the photo of the two of them together on his Instagram page.

The home favorite, who is appearing at the event for the first time in his career, will open against Jordan Thompson or Pablo Andújar.

The Swiss, who returned to the tour in March in Doha after a 13-month injury layoff, will be playing his second event of the season. Following his 3-6, 6-1, 7-5 to Nikoloz Basilashvili in the Doha quarterfinals, Federer withdrew from the following week's Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, saying that he needed to go back to training.

Aside from Geneva, the 103-time tour-level champion has added Roland Garros to his European clay-court swing campaign. The last time he appeared in Paris was in 2019, losing in the semifinal to eventual champion Rafael Nadal.
