Tiafoe, Svitolina and others say their goodbyes to New York

Hundreds of players descend on New York every year for the last Grand Slam of the season, the US Open. Sticking around, though, throughout the entire two weeks obviously isn’t in the cards for everyone.

Those that haven’t made it through to the end have been taking to Instagram over the past few days to express their gratitude for the event and say goodbye to the Big Apple. Here’s a look at some of the fond farewells.

Frances Tiafoe captivated the crowds through his run to the fourth round, the second year in a row he’s gotten that far. The 23-year-old indicated how much the game means to him and how he hopes to inspire the next generation while saying goodbye for now.

Nathaniel Lammons was part of one of the biggest upsets of the US Open when he and fellow American Jackson Withrow shocked pre-tournament favorites Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic in the opening round. Sharing pictures from around the grounds, the first week was one to remember for the doubles specialist.

Elina Svitolina came into the tournament on the heels of her first tournament victory of the year in Chicago. The newlywed almost made it two wins in a row before falling to Leylah Fernandez in the quarterfinals. On-court and off, Svitolina appeared to have a good time as she bid adieu.

Jack Sock, in the midst of a comeback, showed signs of his old Top-10 form by advancing to the third round, where he was derailed by a leg injury against Alexander Zverev. The four-time Grand Slam champ shared his love for the tournament and city that never sleeps in his post.

It was another strong Slam in 2021 for Karolina Pliskova, who advanced to the quarterfinals in New York, only a couple of months after reaching the final at Wimbledon. The former world No. 1 shared a post in front of the Instagrammable Vessel in the city before departing.

And Petra Kvitova expressed her appreciation for the fans...
