Before this week, Solana Sierra had not experienced the thrill of winning a major main-draw match.
The scenario wasn’t on the table at Wimbledon until Sierra entered the 128-player field as a lucky loser and had 15 minutes to get ready for her opening match with Australia's Olivia Gadecki. By Wednesday evening, the Argentine was standing with a pair of victories in hand.
Stepping out on No. 1 Court, Sierra dashed Katie Boulter’s hopes with her impressive turnaround. The 21-year-old went on to break the world No. 43 eight times from 10 opportunities for a 6-7 (7), 6-2, 6-1 victory.
