FORT WORTH, Texas—Is this what the kids call a “lewk?”

Jelena Ostapenko has shown off some funky style in 2022, bringing some of her most memorable ensembles to the WTA Finals alongside partner Lyudmyla Kichenok.

The 2017 Roland Garros champion has been collaborating with Latvian brand DK One since the start of the season, showing off an array of prints, patterns, and ruffles—some of which played just up to the lines of Wimbledon’s dress code back in July.

Ostapenko brought some of her greatest hits to Fort Worth after qualifying for the doubles event, including a leopard-print number and matching color that she first debuted at the US Open.

Fingers crossed for an all-DK One doubles team in 2023.

The lewk clearly brought some luck on Saturday as Ostapenko and Kichenok won their first match of the week after two narrow defeats earlier in round-robin action; rallying from a set down, the Latvian/Ukrainian duo edged past Anna Danilina Beatriz Haddad Maia, 6-7 (7), 6-4, 10-8.

On-court announcer Andrew Krasny asked the team about the match but saved his best question for last, inquiring after Ostapenko’s audacious apparel.

“I just know that this season, this print is quite trendy,” explained the business-minded former world No. 5. “So many brands are doing this, and I was designing this with the owner of the brand. I think it’s quite trendy this year, so I needed to make an outfit like this!”

With Ostapenko/Kichenok’s fate up to the final Pam Shriver Group match between Elise Mertens and Veronika Kudermetova against Gabriela Dabrowski and Giuliana Olmos, it’s a win-win for real fashion heads: either we get to see another stunner from Ostapenko’s 2022 line or she gets a jump start on planning out what she’ll wear in 2023.
