Jennifer Brady is “ready to get back out there and compete" at the 2023 US Open

The American is playing at the US Open for the first time since 2020, and is using her experience in major tournaments to her advantage.

NEW YORK—Enjoying a pit stop in the Financial District, 2020 US Open semifinalist Jennifer Brady hosted her own special training session at Court 16 in collaboration with Babolat, and spoke enthusiastically about her scheduled return to Flushing Meadows.

“I feel really excited to be back in New York City,” Brady said. “It’s been a couple of years since I’ve played here, since 2020, so I’m ready to get back out there and compete.”

Brady was joined by the Kids Tennis Academy at Court 16 for a volleying session.

The partnership between Court 16 and Babolat began in 2014, "with an aim to move the tennis experience through sportsmanship, discipline and inclusivity."

Since then, there are have been four Court 16 clubs developed throughout New York, and there have been plentiful Babolat and player celebrations such as last year’s Babolat Pure Aero 2023 launch with Carlos Alcaraz, Leylah Fernandez, and Félix Auger-Aliassime.

This year, it was Brady who had volley drills with the kids and groundstroke games with the adults. Gearing up for the US Open is no easy feat, especially having not competed in New York for a few years, so this training session was a must-have to get her prepared for the final major tournament of 2023.

Brady's experience at Grand Slam tournaments will be important to her as she makes her way back to the US Open for the first time since 2020.

“Making the semifinals here before, I’ve had experience in grand slams.” Brady said. “Experience is very important when it comes to staying at the top of the game, or getting to the topo of the game, and I’m definitely going to use my experience.”

She jokingly added, “Some of the players are fearing me and I’m ready to get started.” But let’s be honest, Brady is in it to win it and the WTA better keep an eye out for her return.
