Based off the straight-set victories Daniil Medvedev continues to collect this week, green may be his winning color.

On Day 7 in New York, Medvedev looked unshakable as he battled for a quarterfinal spot. His Lacoste kit matched his disposition on court; confident and composed. The Russian needed only three sets to get past Britian’s Dan Evans, 6-3, 6-4, 6-3, in just over an hour and a half. He also scored the look of the day.

Medvedev became a “croc” in 2019, meaning that he is a Lacoste brand ambassador alongside Novak Djokovic. The brand creates some of the most classic tennis looks—you’ll almost always find its players in a clean-cut, collared polo, complete with the famed crocodile logo. The 2021 US Open is no exception. The Russian wore a white polo with a green and white striped collar, with an all-white wristband. His shorts matched the color of his collar and the crocodile logo, as well as his green and white striped socks.

The look was classy, detail-oriented, and added a pop of color in all the right places.

The No. 2 seed has yet to drop a set at the final Grand Slam of the year and seemed to barely break a sweat on court. Sunday’s win has set Medvedev up to meet qualifier Botic van de Zandschulp in the quarterfinals. Time will tell, but don’t be surprised if the Russian and his color-coordinated fit are fighting it out in next week’s final.
