Marta Kostyuk's Wilson Wimbledon kit was inspired by her wedding dress

Marta Kostyuk's sartorial stylings are coming full-circle this Wimbledon.

Last November in Cyprus, the 22-year-old Ukrainian wed 27-year-old Heorhii Kyzymenko in a dreamy ceremony where she wore not one, but two, dresses designed by Wilson, with whom she signed with last year as its first head-to-toe athlete.

But player and brand, who've routinely landed on tennis' best-dressed lists over the last year, have now teamed up to make another all-white fashion statement: Kostyuk's 2024 Wimbledon kit, which Joelle Michaeloff, Wilson’s head of design, says has borrowed elements from the looks that the Ukrainian wore for her special day.

There are many obvious parallels between Kostyuk's Wimbledon look—a sleeveless, deep-V-neck, largely open-backed dress—and something a bride might wear down the aisle. But Michaeloff told *Vogue* magazine in an interview that other design elements made their way into the SW19 version of the dress.

Chiefly? A button-up top layer, which for Kostyuk's wedding dress was made of silk organza with hand-appliquéd flowers. At Wimbledon, the overdress is shorter, but designed with similar button fixtures. (Michaeloff says she added one more to allow Kostyuk to remove it easily under the time contraints of a pre-match warm-up.) The main dress, Michaeloff says, is functionally the same as the one Kostyuk wed in, but with a ball short included underneath.

“Basically, we added an underlayer component and then raised the neckline a little bit—we don’t want any mistakes in Wimbledon," Michaeloff added.

Kostyuk, too, made no mistakes in the dress' on-court debut on Monday. The No.18 seed at the Championships eased to a 6-3, 6-2 win over Slovakia's Rebecca Sramkova in her first-round match on Court 4.
