Djokovic Seles Lawnmower

During her Hall of Fame career, Monica Seles lifted nine major trophies. She reached all four Grand Slam finals in 1992, her lone loss coming in the championship match at the All England Club.

Wimbledon would end up being the one major missing from the former world No. 1’s trophy cabinet when she hung up her racquet. And now, she’s having some fun with that fact at her own expense.

On her Instagram account, Seles posted a video showcasing the sport’s four major tournaments. Brief highlights from the Australian Open, Roland Garros and US Open are paired with her total titles at each respective event. But when it came time to display Wimbledon, the 0 was accompanied by Seles mowing a lawn.

The hilarious clip was inspired by some images Novak Djokovic had published.

“@djokernole you taking my one job at @wimbledon now!?” captioned Seles.

Commenting with a trio of laughing and heart emojis, Djokovic said, “Every win I had in my career was always inspired by you Monika.”

Added Kim Clijsters, “She was my hero growing up, and once I got to know her, she turned out to be even more incredible in real life.”

Earlier, Djokovic pulled out a dad joke for his Wimbledon-themed post.

“In training, I don’t cut corners. Just grass,” he wrote.

The 38-year-old meets world No. 1 Jannik Sinner Friday in a second consecutive major semifinal, with the Italian prevailing at Roland Garros. Djokovic is appearing in the final four at the grass-court major for a men’s record 14th time, having surpassed Roger Federer with his four-set win over Flavio Cobolli.

When the Serbian tied Seles for the longest Australian Open win streak in 2024, his former idol reflected, “With Novak’s Grand Slam title wins, I stopped counting a long time ago as I knew he would be breaking all the records and setting up some ridiculous ones for future generations to try and break.

“I just wish that we played in the same era as it would have been so cool to play mixed doubles together. For me it would be a masterclass.”

If we had to guess, Seles will be pulling for her fellow lawn care afficionado to clinch major title No. 25 and stand alone in the history books.
