How it happened: Naomi Osaka beats Jen Brady to win fourth major title

Naomi Osaka hasn't played a match since withdrawing from Roland Garros, but she’s currently up for two different ESPY Awards, including “Best Athlete, Women’s Sports.”

It’ll be stiff competition though for Osaka, who’s pitted against gymnast Simone Biles, UFC fighter Amanda Nunes and WNBA star Breanna Stewart. Osaka is additionally in the running for “Best Athlete, Women’s Tennis,” against Victoria Azarenka, Ashleigh Barty and Sofia Kenin.

On the men’s-tennis side, the contenders are Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev, Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem. And in a tennis-adjacent nomination, Sebastian Korda’s sister Nelly is a nominee for “Best Athlete, Women’s Golf.”
