Daniil Medvedev’s bad day at the Omnium Banque Nationale only got worse after three-set defeat to rival Nick Kyrgios: on his way out of Center Court, a heckling fan called Medvedev a “loser” and triggered a lengthy standoff with the world No. 1.

The incident was recorded by another fan and uploaded to TikTok, quickly catching Kyrgios’ attention on Twitter.

“Disgusting behavior,” the Aussie wrote. “This is the best we have in the sport, fans need to show some respect.”

Kyrgios and Medvedev’s rivalry kicked into high gear this week in Montréal when the former world No. 13, who was fresh off sweeping the Citi Open in singles and doubles, rallied from a set down to defeat the top seed and continue what would be a nine-match winning streak.

His run ultimately ended in the last eight at the hands of No. 8 seed Hubert Hurkacz, who went on to reach the final.
