Djokovic's fortnight in Paris was cut short as a result of a medial meniscus tear in his right knee. But he hasn't been quiet on social media since his withdrawal from Roland Garros prior to his scheduled quarterfinal against Casper Ruud.

On Wednesday, after his withdrawal was announced by the tournament, he posted a statement that confirming the injury. A day later, he confirmed subsequent media reports of his surgery, said it went well, and vowed to return to action.

"I’m going to do my best to be healthy and fit to return to the court as soon as possible," he wrote. "My love for this sport is strong and the desire to compete at the highest level is what keeps me going."
