Off-season complete! Djokovic wraps up Dubai training; Swiatek, Osaka arrive Down Under

The 2024 tennis season is fast approaching!

With the United Cup set to launch December 29 and tour events in Brisbane, Auckland, Canberra and Hong Kong following shortly thereafter, many of your favorites have wrapped up their off-seasons.

Novak Djokovic shared an Instagram reel Tuesday from his training block in Dubai that included a training program on the beach. The world No. 1 is due to lead Serbia’s United Cup bid in Perth, but not before sparring with Carlos Alcaraz in a friendly exhibition Wednesday at the Riyadh Tennis Cup.

Fans had the chance to first see Aryna Sabalenka take on Ons Jabeur at the Kingdom Arena Tuesday in advance of the Djokovic-Alcaraz showdown.

Iga Swiatek confirmed her Perth arrival on her Instagram story. The reigning two-time WTA Player of the Year is joining forces with Hubert Hurkacz among others at the mixed-gender team event. Zheng Qinwen and her team enjoyed a Christmas dinner in Western Australia.

Days earlier, Victoria Azarenka revealed her final pre-season practice involved a hit with Jessica Pegula. Azarenka has opted to open her new campaign in Brisbane. Pegula is set to reunite with Taylor Fritz in Perth, as the two bid to help their nation retain the United Cup crown.

Naomi Osaka is settling in Down Under, as she acclimates to life on the road again. The four-time major winner is beginning her comeback at the Brisbane International.

Grigor Dimitrov has also made his way to the Queensland capital, where he is projected to be the No. 2 men's seed behind Holger Rune. The Bulgarian is coming off a second consecutive appearance at the World Tennis League, which concluded Christmas Eve.

Looking to come out swinging to start the new year, Dominic Thiem is en route to Australia after wrapping up preparations just outside of Dubai. The former US Open champion features in a strong Brisbane qualifying field.
