Kristina Mladenovic won over a slew of new fans after sweeping the Jasmin Open doubles title with Katerina Siniakova, charming the crowd with short speech in Tunisian Arabic.

The former WTA doubles No. 1 is famously adept at languages—knowing as many as five fluently—and though she was in uncharted territory in Monastir, she earned high marks from Tunisia’s favorite daughter Ons Jabeur.

Jabeur sent a congratulatory tweet to the Frenchwoman, who didn’t drop a set in her first appearance with Siniakova and won a 6-2, 6-0 final over Miyu Kato and Angela Kulikov on Sunday.

After receiving warm applause from the Tunisian crowd, Mladenovic has no plans to leave the country just yet: the former world No. 10 plans to stay for an ITF Pro Circuit event.

Will she be able to win the fans over against local favorite in Feryel Ben Hassen in the first round?
