Tomas Machac hadn’t played the Ultimate Tennis Showdown format prior to debuting in Guadalajara this weekend.

Yet as Sunday came to a close, he walked away as an undefeated champion after going 5-0 in the first leg of the 2025 series. A look at Machac’s winning moment, which earned him a ticket to December’s UTS Grand Final.

The No. 2 seed swept David Goffin 3-0 for the second time. The Belgian had knocked out Casper Ruud from match point down in Sudden Death to win the first semifinal, having also achieved the same feat against Cobolli the evening before.
