Sports booking platform Break the Love, dedicated to making racquet sports more accessible to people, and French artist JR, known for flyposting large black-and-white photographic images in public locations, partnered Saturday to host a pickleball pop-up at Miami's Art Basel, PickleBasel, in Jungle Plaza.

In advance of the pop-up, Breathe Miami called the event "a perfect blend of leisure and creativity" for "the fusion of sports and art."

Attendees were offered an immersive experience on the courts, which were provided by FlexCourt and staffed by pros from Ace Pickleball Club, and off, as they were not only able to enjoy the sport, but refreshments, live music, shopping and more.

They were able to take part in pickleball clinics, play-testing different paddles along the way; hydrate and refresh with energy drinks from Gorgie, gin cocktails from Hey, Hei, as well as Perrier and Essentia; and enjoy bites from Caracas Bakery and Angie’s Epicurean vegan ice cream. Miami Beach Bum and Bubble provided refreshing skin treatments to players, too.

The FlexCourt courts, build from the brand's easy-to-install, snap-together flooring, were expected to be donated to organizations including Miami's Lotus House Women’s Shelter and Overtown Youth Center.

JR's artwork was exhibited throughout the pop-up. A selection to Time's Most Influential People list in 2018.
