For her fifth title this season, Ashleigh Barty claimed the Western & Southern Open for the first time. The Aussie completed the feat in dominating fashion, not dropping a single set throughout her run. With the 6-3, 6-1 victory over world No. 76 Jil Teichmann, Barty increased her trophy cabinet to 13 titles and is the first player to win 40 matches this season.

The world No. 1 will stay at the top spot for her 90th week overall, coming close to Lindsay Davenport’s 98 weeks. Steffi Graf currently holds the record at 377 weeks.

"Today against Jil, I feel like I was able to really trust myself and play with confidence, get after the ball, be aggressive and get a bit of a run on, which was going to be important in a big final," Barty said during her post-match press conference.

The 25-year-old will look towards the US Open and attempt to lift her second consecutive major trophy.
