Jack Sock, Genie Bouchard, Sam Querrey

The PPA Red Rock Open saw former tennis stars Sam Querrey, Jack Sock and Genie Bouchard compete across all five brackets: Querrey in men’s doubles, and Sock and Bouchard across mixed, doubles and singles.

As semifinal Saturday nears, only Sock is left standing to compete.

Sock kicked off the first day of the tournament with three consecutive singles wins, guaranteeing himself a semifinals appearance against Novak Djokovic’s former hitting partner Connor Garnett.

The following day, in the mixed doubles bracket with partner Kaitlyn Christian, he once again started his day off with a win. However, the two fell in the second round to No. 13 seed Allyce Jones and Travis Rettenmaier.

On Friday, day three of the tournament, Sock competed in his final bracket, men’s doubles, with partner Ivan Jakovljevic. In just under 45 minutes, the pair lost to No. 15 seed Brandon French and Wyatt Stone.

French teamed up with Bouchard in the mixed doubles bracket, falling to Victoria DiMuzio and Roscoe Bellamy 11-6, 6-11, 11-7.

Unfortunately for the former WTA player, she fell in the opening round across all three eligible brackets, including a 31-minute battle with No. 1 seed Anna Leigh Waters and Catherine Parenteau in women’s doubles.

While Sock and Bouchard took the courts on day one for singles, Querrey didn’t have his first match until Friday, as he only registered to compete in men’s doubles with partner Ryan Sherry.

With Sock watching on in support of his former Davis Cup teammate, Querrey and Sherry fell in 20 minutes to No. 8 seed, not to mention former tennis players, Hunter Johnson and Quang Duong 11-0, 11-2.
