In a video for The Players’ Tribune, Monica Puig gave Oklahoma City Thunder player Shai Gilgeous-Alexander an introductory tennis lesson, providing forehand tips everyone can use:

1. “Pretend that you’re making a C with your racquet,” Puig said, ensuring that Gilgeous-Alexander would make contact with the ball on the upswing.

2. “See if you can keep the ball on the strings as long as possible,” she added.

Puig also gave her playing partner a rapid-fire quiz, which wound up with a slightly embarrassing ending. Out with a shoulder injury, Puig will be unable to defend her Olympic gold medal this summer. The last time the 27-year-old took the court was at Roland Garros in 2020, taking an opening-round loss to 2012 French Open finalist Sara Errani.
