Wilson Ultra v5 line

The Ultra is Wilson’s power franchise. With its thick, stiff, variable beam, the racquet offers generous pop and easy playability. It’s for players who like racquets with a firm response and a boost on their shots, while still maintaining good versatility and control.

The previous Ultra (v4) went through a fairly significant update. There were changes to the frame geometry to make it more ergonomic, aerodynamic and comfortable. Being well received, this latest is more evolutionary with tweaks to the formula to improve things like the racquet’s response and spec tolerance. Here are some of the finer points:

  • SI3D Frame Technology: Designed to impact the bending profile of the frame to blend top-notch stability with increased flexibility, creating a unique feel that enhances power, spin and control.
  • Consistent Spec Control: Weight and balance is more uniform from racquet to racquet to improve consistency of performance
  • "Click & Go" Bumper and Grommet System: Staples located around the 2 and 10 o’clock positions on the frame for easy bumper and grommet replacement with increased durability and a superior fit.
  • Electric Indigo Colorway: A bold and striking colorway that makes Ultra v5 stand out on the court.

Perhaps more intriguing than any new technology, is the new model in the line: the Ultra 99 Pro. Boasting a spin-friendly 16x18 string pattern and a beefy 330ish swingweight, the dimensions and specs are reminiscent of the retired Steam models from about a decade ago that had a loyal following amongst recreational players and Wilson tour players. That’s why several who had been repping other Wilson franchises—including Alex de Minaur, Marta Kostyuk and Qinwen Zheng—will be switching over to the Ultra this summer.

Kostyuk will go a step further and wear Wilson’s first ever head-to-toe performance look inspired by the racquet. In addition to playing with the Ultra, she will be wearing the brand’s Headliner Dress and Intrigue shoe styled to match the Electric Indigo colorway of the frame.

The Ultra v5 line will include seven models: 99 Pro, 100, 100L, 100UL, 111, 26 and 25. The release is accompanied by a matching Ultra bag collection, including the Super Tour Pack (available in 12, 6, and 3 racquet capacities) as well as a streamlined Backpack. The entire collection will be available starting July 15 on wilson.com and at select retailers worldwide.
