Halle-lujah, he’s back!

Roger Federer made a triumphant return to the Terra Wortmann Open in Halle for an emotional celebration of his illustrious tennis career, one that came to its official end last fall at Laver Cup.

A 20-time Grand Slam champion, Federer enjoyed some of his greatest moments at the Wimbledon warm-up event he won a whopping 10 times in over two decades on tour. He won his first Halle title just before his first major title at Wimbledon in 2003, and won his final Halle trophy in 2019.

After an on-court ceremony, Federer mingled with fans and fellow players around the grounds, even reuniting with Hubert Hurkacz—the last man to play Federer in a Grand Slam singles match.

Federer thanked the Halle fans for the warm reception in their native German, and will continue his farewell tour at Wimbledon next month, where he played his final major tournament in 2021.
