Sofia Kenin appears to have returned to having her father as her coach, and says she is aiming to be back next season.

Kenin, coached by her father, Alex, since childhood, decided to stop working with him during the clay season. While she reached the fourth round of the French Open, that was the most successful event of a tough season for the former Australian Open champion.

The 22-year-old had an emergency appendectomy following the Australian Open, and tested positive for coronavirus prior to the US Open. She has not played since Wimbledon.

"This year has been a very bumpy road for me," noted Kenin, adding that she was "finally back to training" and acknowledging her father. "Excited that he’s part of my team and I’m super excited to get back on court competing again next year."

During the interim, Kenin appeared to be dating and working with Max Wenders, a former hitting partner for Jelena Ostapenko.

Kenin is No.12 in the rankings.
