HOTSHOT: Taylor Fritz two-handed forehand return against Arthur Rinderknech in Dallas

Jack Draper and Taylor Fritz both hope to be fully fit for the upcoming Sunshine Double in Indian Wells and Miami after announcing their respective withdrawals from this week's ATP 500 events in Dubai and Acapulco.

In announcing his withdrawal from Acapulco on Saturday, Fritz revealed that he's been "playing through" an abdominal injury since before the Dallas Open, played earlier this month. Fritz lost in the second round there to eventual champion Denis Shapovalov, and lost a week later in the semifinals of his title defense at the Delray Beach Open to Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.

“I’m at a point now where it has not improved and it’s frustrating to be playing when I know I can’t play 100% and am avoiding certain shots or just hitting shots differently then I normally would to avoid the pain," Fritz wrote in a post on Instagram.

The American, who won his first ATP Masters 1000 event by beating Rafael Nadal in the final of the BNP Paribas Open, says he hopes "that giving it this week to rest and rehab will get me back to 100% soon."

Meanwhile, Doha finalist Jack Draper wrote on X, formerly Twitter, that he chose to withdraw from the second leg of the Middle East swing in a bid to "manage [his] body." The official reason for Draper's withdrawal was given as a right adductor injury.

Draper lost in three sets to Andrey Rublev in the Doha final on Saturday, his third consecutive three-setter of the ATP 500 event. The oft-injured Brit was previously forced to withdraw from the United Cup at the start of the season due to a hip injury, and retired against Carlos Alcaraz in the fourth round of the Australian Open with a flare-up of the problem following three consecutive five-set matches at the year's first Grand Slam.

"After a great week ... I'm taking on board advice to prioritize my recovery and manage my body after a number of long matches, and give myself the best chance of competing consistently throughout the year," he wrote.
