Your move, Tsitsidosa: Bjorkovalov is heading down the aisle.

Denis Shapovalov shared a heart-warming series of images on social media Thursday to announce his engagement to fellow player Mirjam Bjorklund. The pair have been together since 2019.

Shapovalov wrote a stirring tribute to Bjorklund earlier this season when he argued for equal prize money in a column for the Players’ Tribune.

“Some say women don’t sell as many tickets, but when I go to matches the stadiums are full,” Shapovalov wrote at the time. “I took a picture of the stands when Mirjam was playing Daria Saville at the WTA 250 in Washington, D.C., in August last year. It was packed. The game was crazy intense. The quality was unbelievable.”

Reflecting on the impact of the article at Roland Garros, the Canadian was hopeful that adding his voice could help aid in the fight for equality.

“For me it's more about getting awareness out and getting people talking,” he explained. “I think it's happening more and more. Players are stepping up.”

The past month has already given Shapovalov and Bjorklund plenty to celebrate: shortly after Roland Garros, the WTA announced a revamped circuit structure with an emphasis on awarding women a prize purse equal to that which is currently rewarded on the ATP Tour.

That news came a day after the couple celebrated their four-year anniversary.
