Doubles expert Hsieh Su-wei found herself having the time of her life Down Under this season. Parterning with Barbora Strycova, the top seeds fell in the major's second round, but the Taiwanese player wasn't quite ready to pack her bags. In 2008 and 2018 she soared into Melbourne's last 16, but this year she would take it a step further and have fun doing it.

After winning her first two matches—which included a seamless 6-3, 6-2 win over 2019 US Open champion Bianca Andreescu, she was forced to face Sara Errani. Not only is the Italian a Grand Slam finalist, but she has Hsieh's number—heading into the match with a flawless 3-0 record against her.

But, the Chinese-Taipei player did something different before squaring off with the current No. 121 that day. She made sure not to eat or even think about bagels, because on all previous occasions she was served one from Errani. This proved to do the trick as Hsieh moved past the 34-year-old with a 6-4, 2-6, 7-5 score.

During her on-court interview, she couldn't wipe the smile off her face and in true Hsieh Su-wei fashion she kept it real with the Melbourne crowd.

"I have a [losing] record against Errani—three times, every time I have a bagel," she said on court. "A bagel it means zero... So before the match I was thinking today you better not eat the bagel today.

"I never win and I have a bagel."

She instantly threw her arms up after giving the hilarious response and did a quick victory dance as the crowd cheered her on. Following her win over Errani, she went on to defeat Marketa Vondrousova and landed herself a spot in the quarterfinals. It marked her first Grand Slam quarterfinals appearance, and something else even more noteworthy for the four-time major doubles champion.

Although Hsieh's incredible Aussie Open run came to an end against Naomi Osaka in the quarters, her sense of humor didn't and she has certainly made fans laugh all year long.
