Victoria Azarenka and son Leo enjoy NHL All-Star Weekend

WATCH: A resurgent Victoria Azarenka reached the semifinals at the Australian Open.

Victoria Azarenka says that her 7-year-old son, Leo, hopes to be the next Lionel Messi. But after what was no doubt a fun-filled time at NHL All-Star weekend, he might want to be the next Henrik Lundqvist.

Young Leo is a well-rounded athlete, according to his mom, and Azarenka shed some light on young Leo's love of soccer last month at the Australian Open.

"He wants to play at Paris Saint-Germain. That's his dream," Azarenka said after beating Sofia Kenin in the first round. She wore a PSG shirt on-court, after matches, and in press conferences in Leo's honor all throughout her run to the semifinals.

"I'm a soccer mom now and I love that. I love supporting," she added. "I'm obnoxious, like absolutely the most obnoxious. I yell, but I'm very positive. I'm actually very proud because it's a completely different emotion for me to support my son. I have no shame screaming for him, like zero.

"I actually even asked him, 'Leo, do you like when mommy supports you?' He goes, 'Yeah, I love it, Mom.' Am I not too loud? He goes, 'Well, sometimes, but it's OK. I like it.' So it's a wholesome moment for me, for sure."

But this weekend, Leo traded his PSG pride for Chicago Blackhawks support as he and his mom took in the action rink-side at FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, Fla., the home of the Florida Panthers. The NHL's all-star festivities include a skills competition between the league's best players, and abbreviated games of 3-on-3 play.

Azarenka's NHL ties date back to her earliest days. At age 15, she moved from Minsk to Scottsdale, Ariz. to live and train; there, she was supported by Nikolai Khabibulin, the Stanley Cup-winning NHL goalkeeper, and his Belarusian wife Victoria, who was a friend of Azarenka's mother Alla.

In her formative years, she called the couple, and their daughter Sasha, a "second family."
