NEW YORK—It turns out victory is indeed sweet.

Iga Swiatek enjoyed a pleasant surprise at the end of her winning US Open press conference, having just captured her third major title—and first on hard courts.

“I'm told if you open up the top of the trophy, there may be something,” advised the moderator following the last question.

As Swiatek lifted the trophy to discover her favorite dessert, USTA’s Managing Director of Corporate Communications Chris Widmaier said, “We notice you always check your trophy. This time we wanted you to find something. It is from the US Open.”

“Thank you,” exclaimed a surprised Swiatek. “I really appreciate it. Especially since I didn't have anything to eat.”

Swiatek first professed her love for the coffee-flavored treat after capturing her second Internazionali BNL d’Italia title earlier this spring.

Now that she’s won a whopping $2.6 million in prize money, Swiatek is liable to procure an entire tiramisu factory.
